Stanhope Morningside self catering cottages are located in Stanhope at the heart of Weardale in the North Pennines. The renovated farm buildings retain their original design yet have been fully modernised. The layout of the cottages provides flexibility and can be adapted to suit family groups of up to nine guests or singles and couples by subdividing the units.
The Byre
On the ground floor there is a fully fitted kitchen, a dining/living room and bathroom. Three steps down from the dining/living area is a seperate lounge, both the living room and lounge have double sofa beds. Just off from the lounge is a spiral staircase which leads to the large double bedroom on the first floor. This room has a toilet and basin en suite.
Parking spaces are available in the farm yard.
Dairy & Granary
Dairy: Shared entrance conservatory with living area. All on ground floor: Living room with double sofa bed/dining room/kitchen. 1 double (6ft zip and link, can be twin) bedroom. Shower room with toilet.
Granary: Shared entrance conservatory with living area. All on ground floor: Two steps to living room with double sofa bed/dining room. Kitchen with breakfast area. 1 double (6ft zip and link, can be twin) bedroom. Shower room with toilet. Z bed available.
Gas CH, elec, bed linen and towels inc. Cot. DVD. CD. Microwave. Washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer in shared utility room. Patio and furniture. BBQ. Parking. No smoking.
Wi-fi and Mobile Phone coverage – due to the surrounding hills, O2, Orange and T-mobile are very poor reception at the units. Vodafone usually works fine. If you have difficulties try working the phone on the exterior of the property.
Local shops – There are a number of local shops including a paper and butchers shop, post office, bakery, co-op and a general dealers. Usually open 9 to 5 except Wed. afternoon. The Co-op has extended hours open until approx 10pm each evening including the provision of alcohol.
Three pubs and a social club are located within easy walking distance of the units.
Gas / Electric – for the majority of lets the services are included in the price, longer term lets – meter readings are taken to establish usage.
Cash / Bank facilities – Barclays Bank is situated on the front street in Stanhope open from 9.30 am to 3.30pm Wed-Fri. In addition there is a cash machine located on the bank exterior and a second at the Co-op store.
Tourist Railway – this is located approx ½ mile from Stanhope Morningside adjacent to the foundry.
Churches / Chapels – There is a Methodist church located on the Back Lane at Stanhope and the main church located in the market place.
